San Cristobal De Las Casas, Mexico

We arrived in San Cristobal yesterday morning around 9a after taking an overnight bus from Merida. San Cristobal is in Southern highlands at over 6,000 feet and feels cool and refreshing after a couple of summer months in the tropical lowlands. It’s strange to see pine trees and morning mist. The city is colonial but has a university and almost feels like a Mexican version of Eugene or Berkley.

We think we will leave Monday for Guatemala. We had dinner last night with my fraternity brother Andy and his lovely girlfriend Linda. Andy said the bus to Lake Atitlan only takes about 10 hours and that chickens are optional.
