A Stormy South Jetty, Florence

We spent a foggy night in Eugene at the Valley River Mall parking lot enroute to Florence on the coast. Rain is what makes Oregon green and lovely but fall is usually fairly dry. This October seems to be the rainiest we can remember. The weather forecast called for a series of low pressure systems mixed with the remnants of a typhoon creating an atmospheric river.

South Jetty Beach

Thankfully, we got a nice afternoon walk on the beach after checking into the South Jetty Thousand Trails.

Oregon Dunes

The Oregon Dunes and beach were just a quick drive away from the campground.

Heceta Head Lighthouse

Florence is a great little town on the Coast and the scenery is pretty spectacular.

Storm Watch

The weather forecast called for hurricane force winds at the coast but fortunately didn’t materialize. We did get a lot of rain.

Florence Sand Dunes

After a break in the weather, we went back to the beach.

South Jetty

The waves were huge.

Stormy Seas

We had visions of perfect fall weather but rain or shine the Oregon Coast is still beautiful.
