Nothing too exciting happening here. We pick up the Bago next week and hit the road again. Looking forward to more adventures in 2017. My photo of the Bago in Lone Pine won the Escapees RV Club photo contest and will appear sometime in 2017 on their magazine cover. I’m still having fun with the […]
South Bay and Santa Ynez

We left Palm Springs and the Bago behind after Thanksgiving to stay with friends in LA and Santa Ynez. It was great seeing friends we haven’t seen in awhile. I took my inflatable out with our friend Chris in Redondo. He’s on my old board I sold him before we left town. Jerry is a […]
Joshua Tree National Park

We decided to put the Bago in storage for the holidays so we could visit friends in LA and stay out in Palm Springs. A big bonus in Palm Springs is all the great hiking and surrounding areas like Joshua Tree. The trees look like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. There’s a great […]
Mojave National Preserve

We’ve become certified desert rats. After leaving Death Valley we headed South for Mojave National Preserve. The area is administered by the National Park Service and features expansive mesas, joshua trees, tortoises, jeep trails, and giant yuccas. We stayed at the Hole in the Wall Campground. Despite a dirt road detour thanks to Google Maps and […]
Death Valley National Park

Our quest for sun took us to the hottest, driest, and lowest point in North America. Death Valley did not disappoint with clear skies and the temperature hitting the 90’s at a our camp in Furnace Creek. During the day we headed for higher elevations and cooler temps. We took a rocky and rutted dirt […]
Alabama Hills, Lone Pine

We followed the sun and found beautiful 75 degree weather outside of Lone Pine, California. The Alabama Hills are familiar even if you have never been here as many commercials, movies, and TV shows have been filmed here. The hills feature otherworldly rock formations and sit at the base of Mt. Whitney and the Eastern […]
Sonoma and Russian River

We finally left Oregon with our hopes of a pleasant Fall dashed by record rain. It had been a great summer but it was time to move South. We drove through the redwoods stopping at the Avenue of the Giants. We decided to break up our drive and stay overnight at the Bear River Casino south […]
Harris Beach State Park

This is our third time camping at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings. We love the area and it’s a great state park. Well maintained and plenty of hookups sites available with the summer crowds gone. Unfortunately this has been one of the wettest Octobers on record. Oh well. Praise the lord and pass the […]
A Stormy South Jetty, Florence

We spent a foggy night in Eugene at the Valley River Mall parking lot enroute to Florence on the coast. Rain is what makes Oregon green and lovely but fall is usually fairly dry. This October seems to be the rainiest we can remember. The weather forecast called for a series of low pressure systems […]
Silver Falls State Park

Silver Falls State Park is a quick drive from Jaime’s family. The forecast called for a break in the rain so I drove over to take pictures of ther waterfalls and fall foliage. The rains had fired up the waterfalls but not knocked off the leaves yet. Great conditions. Cavern behind North Falls. Silver creek.
